pH buffer

Every substrate has a certain pH buffer. This buffer ensures that the pH changes more slowly during the culture. The pH buffer can vary significantly between growing media. Peat, acrotelm, and compost have a high pH buffer. Other raw materials often have a lower (coir pith) or a very low pH buffer (wood fibre, bark). Read more background information about the pH buffer.
