Other important points of attention

  • Organic fertilizers
When using organic fertilizers successfully, various aspects and their interactions must be taken into account. In summary, the dynamics surrounding organic fertilizers can be described as follows:
  • CRF fertilizers
CRF (controlled release fertilizers) can be used as base fertilization. Depending on the substrate mixture and the grower’s preferences, a choice is made for the basic fertilization and, if desired, for fertilizers with a controlled release. The release of nutrients from CRF fertilizers depends on the type of coating (release duration), the moisture content, temperature, and the uptake by the crop. The release process affects the EC and pH.
  • Other points of attention
If a substrate contains raw materials other than peat and/or inorganic fertilizer, traces of pesticides may be detected. For more information, consult the RHP Factsheet on pesticides.
