RHP integrates activities Responsibly Produced Peat

15 december 2025

As of 1 January 2026, all activities of Responsibly Produced Peat (RPP) will be officially integrated under RHP. The reason for this integration is to ensure the continuation of the RPP activities.

In the substrate sector, quality, responsible production and sustainability are increasingly interconnected. The sector is working to reduce the environmental impact of growing media, the transition towards the use of renewable raw materials, and to ensure responsible production. By integrating the activities of the Responsibly Produced Peat scheme within the RHP organisation, these priorities can be addressed in an efficient and coherent manner. RHP, the knowledge centre for substrates, supports the raw materials transition through its unique research into renewable materials. RPP ensures responsible and transparent peat sourcing and therefore plays an important role in this transition.

Independence of the RPP scheme

The RPP activities will fall organisationally under RHP, but the RPP scheme and its certification standards will remain fully independent and visually recognisable. The involvement of environmental NGOs remains a cornerstone of the RPP scheme, safeguarding its independence and ensuring strong alignment with environmental objectives.

What does this mean in practice?

For participating companies, nothing will change in day-to-day operations. All current agreements within RPP will be adopted  one-to-one by RHP, ensuring full continuity. Incorporating the activities within RHP does not imply any obligation for RPP-certified companies to also obtain certification for the RHP quality mark, and vice versa.
