5 june 2026

Cultilene has recently obtained RHP Horticulture certification for its stone wool plugs used for crop propagation. The company already held RHP certification for stone wool and is now the first company with RHP-certified stone wool plugs.

Based on research and inspections executed by the certification body, the company complies with the requirements as determined in the Product Certification Scheme of the RHP quality mark.

About Cultilene

Cultilene develops and produces solutions for greenhouse horticulture, with a focus on water and root management. The company supplies circular substrate systems in combination with matching irrigation strategies and sensor technology that provide insight into the root environment. Murat Bogutekin, Quality Manager Saint‑Gobain Cultilene B.V.: “The RHP certification confirms that our stone wool plugs meet independently established quality requirements. The RHP quality mark aligns with our focus on controlled processes and reproducible product quality for professional cultivation. We are proud that this has now also been confirmed for our stone wool plugs.”

RHP quality mark

Plugs with the RHP quality mark meet stringent quality requirements and increase the security for users. The requirements concern volume, dimensions, rootability, water buffer, velocity of water uptake, and nutritional aspects. The measurement methods for volume and dimensions have furthermore been developed for CEN (European Committee for Standardization) and European legislation. The standards do not only concern minimum and maximum values but are also strongly focused on uniformity. In addition, RHP-certified plugs comply with the standard quality mark requirements and are therefore free from heavy metals, radioactivity, harmful substances, weed seeds, and plant and human pathogens. In cooperation with producers and users, RHP continues to further develop and expand the set of standards for the future.
