Coir that is responsibly produced

The RPC certification scheme is based on the following basic principles and criteria:

  • Legality & Governance: in line with all local and national environmental and social laws and regulations.
  • Social aspects: including a safe and healthy working environment, no child labour, agreements on working hours, wages and other terms of employment.
  • Environmental aspects: including environmental impact of activities, (waste) water management, waste policy.  
  • Management plan: including action plans in three areas (general, environmental and social) and a monitoring system.
  • Chain of Custody and RPC labelling of substrates: requirements for coir and for substrates containing coir that must be met.

Entry-level, up to 2 years

At least 35% of the company's coir volume consists of RPC-certified coir.

For indefinite period of time

At least 65% of the company's coir volume consists of RPC-certified coir.

Target level

At least 90% of the company's coir volume consists of RPC-certified coir.
