There is a wide and growing range of raw materials, each with its own properties. To provide clear insight into these properties, RHP is developing a series of product sheets containing objective, technical information about all certified raw materials. These product sheets offer details on the chemical, physical, and biological properties of the raw material, its applications, origin, and an explanation of the distinctive RHP quality. Product sheet Coir products
Coir products are renewable substrate raw materials originating from the husk of the coconut. They combine a workable structure with favourable water and air management properties and are therefore widely used in substrates worldwide.
Product sheet Stone wool
Stone wool is a fibrous substrate made from melted and spun basalt-like materials. It has a high water retention capacity and is free of plant diseases. In horticulture, it is mainly used as a growing medium in slabs, blocks, and plugs.
Product sheet Compost
Compost is a nutrient-rich organic material created through the natural decomposition of plant-based residual streams. The composting process produces a material that is used as a renewable substrate raw material or soil improver.
Product sheet Perlite
Perlite is a natural volcanic rock. Through a controlled production process at very high temperatures, the final product is manufactured. Perlite comes in various fractions and has been used for decades as a pure substrate or as a raw material to enhance physical properties.
Product sheet Peat
Peat, a traditional raw material, has been used worldwide for decades as an organic raw material for growing media. Growers have extensive experience withit, and their cultivation methods are traditionally adapted to its properties. Peat is safe and, with minimal drawbacks, practically problem-free in use.
