Dutch consumer campaign 'Aardige Aarde' to raise awareness on potting soil

9 may 2025

Tuinbranche Nederland has developed the awareness campaign 'Aardige Aarde' (kind soil). As one of the 15 signatories of the Dutch Covenant Environmental Impact of Potting Soil and Substrates, Tuinbranche Nederland plays a central role in consumer communication. Through this campaign, they aim to inform Dutch garden and balcony owners about making responsible choices — in stores, via social media, and through a website.

Campaign launched

The campaign was officially launched this month by Gerard Schouw, chair of the covenant, together with entrepreneur Marlon Koene at garden centre De Carlton in ’s-Gravenzande, which has received a communication toolkit to support the campaign.

RHP’s role within the covenant

RHP is also one of the participating organisations in the covenant. As the Dutch knowledge centre for substrates, RHP focuses on research into the quality of renewable raw materials, ensuring quality and (phytosanitary) safety, and sharing knowledge about raw materials and growing media with, among others, certified producers.
