Crop damage? Involve RHP fast for proper substrate research

9 may 2025

To determine whether the substrate may be (part of) the cause of crop damage, acting quickly is crucial. The technical advisors at RHP assist certified companies with expert, independent support. Involve RHP as soon as possible to ensure valuable evidence isn’t lost and thorough research remains possible.

In the vast majority of cases, substrates are applied without any issues. However, sometimes a crop does not develop successfully — for example, when growth is staying behind or when damage occurs to leaves or flowers. If there are indications that the substrate may play a role in this, a grower usually contacts the substrate supplier.

Thorough research

To determine whether the substrate is (part of) the cause of the crop damage, it’s important to involve RHP quickly and initiate proper research. The goal of this research is always to clearly establish the role of the substrate. If needed, RHP can also offer remote support and advice.

Checklist

As a helpful tool, RHP has developed the checklist Crop damages (also available in the RHP Toolbox on My RHP). This checklist outlines which information should be recorded immediately. The faster you gather data, the better — as changing conditions make it increasingly difficult to get a complete picture later on, which can hinder drawing reliable conclusions.

RHP as an independent expert

The technical advisors at RHP are happy to assist with expert, independent guidance. With many years of experience and specialised analysis methods, they provide a clear research report with conclusions that are usually acknowledged by all parties involved. In short: don’t wait too long. The sooner you act, the better we can support you.
