In agriculture and horticulture soil supply and/or soil improvement materials are used to supplement or improve the soil. The RAG quality mark applies to these products.
The quality mark is awarded to suppliers of raw material and producers and traders of soil supply and soil improvement materials.
To be allowed to carry the RAG quality mark, suppliers, producers and traders must satisfy the quality requirements of the RHP Foundation. These requirements cover things like contamination and the presence of diseases.
Monitoring of the chemical and physical aspects of the raw material guarantees a clean and high-quality product.
Soil supply and soil improvement material with the RAG quality mark have the following advantages:
- The product is guaranteed to be free of the most common quarantine diseases. Consequently, there are no export restrictions.
- The product satisfies the statutory requirements as regards pollution with heavy metals, PAHs, mineral oils.
- The raw material used for the production of the soil supply have been tested for viable weed seed content. If these exceed the standard, such materials are rejected for application in RAG-approved soil supply.
- The suppliers of soil supply and soil improvers may supply physical and chemical analyses of the supplied soil supply. On that basis things like the nutritional state of the soil supply and its influence on the top soil can be determined
- The soil supply satisfies certain physical minimum requirements. Research at the Proefstation voor de Boomkwekerij has demonstrated that with good (physical) quality soil supply higher your yields can be achieved.
- The salt content of the soil supply does not exceed 2 mS/cm, preventing problems with too high salt contents.
The RAG-quality mark guarantees reliability, safety and quality.

Manufacturers, importers and traders of substrates and raw material for substrates may apply for the RAG quality mark. For information on obtaining the RHP quality mark: info@rhp.nl
MBut nurseries and other users of substrates may also call upon the RHP Foundation for research, advise or questions about potting soil formulas or other substrates. Nowhere in the world will you find so much knowledge and experience as at the RHP Foundation.
