Product certification scheme
Quality guarantee and certification are paid more and more attention to in trade and industry, also in the horticulture and tree nursery industry. In the field of substrates, soil supply and soil improvers (growing media) the quality marks RHP and RAG exist. These quality marks are managed by Stichting RHP. RHP optimizes and secures the quality of peat products, raw materials, potting soil compositions, substrates, soil supply and soil improvers.
Use of the RHP-quality mark
The RHP-quality mark applies for substrate producers, substrate suppliers, extraction- and production sites of raw materials inland and abroad, storage- and harbor sites and logistic processes. Companies that work according to the requirements of the product certification scheme RHP-quality mark, are allowed to use the RHP-quality mark for a product for which they are certified.
Development of requirements
The product certification scheme RHP quality mark contains the requirements, with which the RHP certified products have to comply. The scheme has been composed of several modules.
The development of requirements as well as the contents and the level of the quality mark comes about because of the concern of the following parties:
- Product groups.
- Technical Committee RHP.
- Central Board of Experts.
The certification of companies and products is executed by a Certifying Body (in Dutch: Certificerende Instelling (=CI)) which has been acknowledged for the RHP scheme. The CI and auditor have to comply with requirements concerning knowledge, experience and matter expertise. Expert assessment of processes, raw materials and products are extremely important, as it concerns product certification at the RHP quality mark.
