RHP BROCHURE POTTING SOIL AND SUBSTRATES

This brochure for potting soil and substrates replaces the brochure "Guidelines for the production of potting soils and substrates" published in 1992, generally known as brochure no. 73, and it is used as reference book and manual for everyone involved in the use of potting soils and substrates.

Not only producers, traders and importers of potting soil and substrates use this source of knowledge. Nurseries, garden centres, consultants, laboratories and educational institutes use the book for a variety of problems. The first chapter begins with the origin of peat. That knowledge is necessary for a better understanding of this product. Then the production of potting soil is described extensively, detailing the chemical, physical and phytosanitary aspects.

The brochure lists and describes almost all common substrates. Where possible the technical details are described extensively, such as bulk density of the substrate, shrinkage, pores, water and air content.

Information on weed, but also recommendations on use of substrate are discussed in detail in the reference book.
